Let’s start with the most important. There are no absolutely sustainable jewelry brands. Ethics, environmental friendliness, sustainability – this is a process, this is the path that many brands are now taking.

5/ Hermina Athens

All jewellery is handmade by Greek craftsmen. Now the brand is collaborating with several jewellers whose workshops are located right next to the Hermina studio in Athens.

For Jenny Bird, it is very important that the products are sourced and manufactured in a responsible way. “All of the packaging that we use is made out of recycled paper and there is pretty much no plastic included in any of the packing. All of the jewellery we make is from recycled metals, so it is recycled silver and recycled bronze. In terms of our team we are all local with everything therefore, locally produced. We house our craftsmen and therefore we are not working with larger factories so everything is produced sustainably in our studio. It is hard to calculate our carbon footprint as our setup is rather small. However, generally in terms of the materials that we use everything is recycled and reused. It is certainly our aim to be completely plastic free by next year as we are only currently using a very small amount of plastic here and there, for example, we have previously used ziplocks for samples etc. but again these are reused as well. We have no doubt that we will be able to achieve our goal of being entirely plastic free next year.“
